Sinowala is a collection of plain-English guides for foreigners planning to visit or move to China. Rather than tourist tips, it covers the everyday systems that decide whether your first weeks in China run smooth: setting up Alipay and WeChat Pay, opening a local bank account, ordering food delivery, calling a DiDi, navigating with AMap, shopping on Taobao, buying movie tickets, and handling translation in daily life.

Every guide is written from a local Chinese perspective — the kind of context a local Chinese friend would give you before you land, not a manual lifted from a help center. The point is to cut the confusion, so China feels less like a puzzle and more like home.

How the guides are made

Each guide starts from first-hand, day-to-day experience of living in China — the payment flows, app screens, fees and workarounds described are the ones that actually show up in practice, including the friction no help center mentions. Drafts are researched and language-polished with AI tools, then rewritten and fact-checked by hand before publishing. Where an app changes its rules or prices, the affected guide gets updated rather than left to go stale.
